Media Release: PMRF to temporarily close guest passes, recreational sites beginning Sept. 6 ahead of Hurricane Lowell

PACIFIC MISSLE RANGE FACILITY, Kekaha, Hawai`i – Due to the potential impact of Hurricane Lowell, the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) has scheduled a temporary closure of its recreational guest pass program and recreational sites effective 12 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, until further notice.

The closures are being implemented for the safety of all personnel, first responders and the community.

PMRF is currently set at Tropical Cyclone Conditions Readiness (TCCOR) three and will be implementing associated protocols and adjusted hours of operations based on weather forecast.
