Notice: Boil water advisory lifted at PMRF, water conservation notice remains

11 September 2026

From Pacific Missile Range Facility Public Affairs

PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY BARKING SANDS, Hawaii - NOTICE: The Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) has lifted the installation boil water advisory as of approximately 1 p.m., today, September 11, 2026. Customers may now resume normal water use.
The water advisory was lifted after water quality testing confirmed the installation’s tap water is safe to drink and that PMRF Public Water System 430 meets state and federal standards for safe drinking water.

The boil water advisory was issued in response to impacts on our distribution system from Hurricane Lowell. Water sampling was conducted after repairs and submitted for official lab testing to confirm tap water quality.

PMRF thanks all base customers for their patience and cooperation during the boil water advisory and on-going storm recovery efforts.

The Department of Water, County of Kauai’s notice for island wide water conservation remains in effect. PMRF base population are advised to please limit water use to essential uses only; such as drinking, cooking or sanitation needs and turn off irrigation systems and refrain from recreational water use. For updates to the county water conservation notice, visit kauaiwater.org.

All base personnel and housing residents should continue to monitor AtHoc messages and PMRF’s official Facebook page for official storm related updates at https://www.facebook.com/pacificmissilerangefacility.
