CMSgt Juan C. Alvarez is the Senior Enlisted Leader, 647th Air Base Group, 15th Wing, and Air Force Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Navy, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. He serves as the principal advisor to the Joint Base and 647th Air Base Group leaders on all matters regarding morale, readiness, training, utilization, and professional development of 1,200 joint military and civilian personnel across 5 squadrons and 6 Navy departments. He leads joint forces supporting an installation population of 95,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel across 12 geographically separated locations. As a Joint Base leader, he serves a critical role in ensuring the execution of strategic air mobility, operational missions, special air missions and shore installation services in support of United States Pacific Command, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, United States Pacific Fleet and 294 tenant commands.
Chief Alvarez is from Mercedes, Texas, and enlisted in the Air Force in August 2000. He graduated from the Information Management Course at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, in December 2000. His background includes duties within the Information Management career field, serving at the squadron, wing, major command, and joint levels. He also served four years as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter from 2008 through 2012. His assignments include bases in Idaho, Texas, Massachusetts, Colorado and Ohio. He also served overseas in Germany and Pakistan and deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and NATO Resolute Support Mission.
Prior to assuming his current position, Chief Alvarez served as the Senior Enlisted Leader, 82d Mission Support Group, Sheppard AFB, Texas.
