Where Safety is Paramount
The Navy's policy to provide a safe and healthful work environment for all personnel requires the full involvement of the entire Navy Region Hawaii team.
Safety doesn't just happen. It requires continual, aggressive actions and involvement from the Command's leadership, including frequent evaluation of our processes. The Safety and Occupational Health program is vital to our mission accomplishment. It is the heart of our Quality of Life, and is an all-hands effort.
The Regional Safety Department provides administrative and technical guidance, and ensure the program functions in accordance with applicable laws, standards and instructions. Program Managers, Department Directors and Division Heads will support the safety program by requiring compliance with all established procedures and regulations. Supervisors shall periodically review the work environment to identify and correct unsafe/unhealthful working conditions, and ensure employees are aware of, and correctly apply, recognized safety precautions for their operations. finally, each employee shall comply with established safety and health regulations, utilize required personal protective equipment, and promptly report all on-the-job mishaps to the supervisor.
Every employee has the right to participate in the safety program, and under no circumstances will an employee experience any form of adverse action for exercising these rights.
The command's leadership will actively participate in programs that educate and encourage the highest standards of safety and occupational health, and will incorporate sound safety and occupational health principles into our daily decision-making processes and work habits. In short, we will continually strive for a mishap-free work environment.
