Visiting Hawaii

Aloha and Welcome to Hawaii!

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam is an active, thriving installation with restricted access for authorized personnel only.

Many of the historic sites are located outside our gates, such as the USS Arizona Memorial and the Bowfin Memorial and Museum. These sites are open to the public and no special access is necessary.

USS Arizona Memorial tours are offered by the National Park Service, World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument. For reserved tickets, visit www.recreation.gov.  This convenient online service will allow you to select your tour date and time for a nominal fee.  Ticket reservation is highly recommended to reduce your wait time, especially in peak travel season. For more information, visit the Pearl Harbor National Memorial website.

If you are interested in the fascinating world of underwater living, a visit to the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park offers a superb view of the “Silent Service” made famous during WWII.  The USS Bowfin was launched one year after the December 7th attacks and has been nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger.  For admission information, visit their website, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park.

The Battleship Missouri Memorial Association and the Pacific Aviation Museum are located inside the base on Ford Island. Both are accessible via pre-arranged tour buses.  To purchase tickets, click on the links above for their websites and more information.  Buses depart from the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Park (USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center).

Historical tours of Ford Island, Hickam Field and Hickam’s Garden City are available through the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.  All passengers over the age of 15 must provide a valid government issued identification and be sponsored by a Department of Defense or Active Duty/Military ID card holder. For more information, contact 808-448-2295 or 808-473-0792. Visit the JBPHH MWR website for additional information.

On a very limited basis, boat tours of the harbor and ship visits are available via the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Public Affairs Office.  For more information, contact the Community Relations Officer via email: CNRH.PAO@navy.mil  or:
